Dave Doeren is all about balance.  Last season NC State was among the most balanced teams offensively, totaling 2,659 yards on the ground and 2,652 yards through the air.  Thats an insane difference of 7 yards.

The Wolfpack might have been balanced, but their rushing attack was truly one of the best in the country.  NC State averaged 5.9 yards per carry against Power 5 teams (excluding sacks), ranking 7th amongst the bunch.  That yard per carry average was higher than Oregon, TCU, Auburn, and Alabama.

It is not outlandish to think that the Wolfpack could improve on these numbers.  They are returning both Thorton and Dayes, the talented Freshman Reggie Gallaspy who will undoubtedly have an impact, and the quiet Sophomore Dawka Nichols who snuck into the second spot on the depth chart for Saturday.  NC State also returns three Senior starters on the offensive line, along with Sophomore Tony Adams who started 9 games last year.  Jacoby Brissett broke NC State’s record for rushing yards by a quarterback last season, and he has no reason to hold anything back in his final season.

Dave Doeren and Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada have been a part of some of the best running attacks in the nation in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin, and it looks like they are building the same level of tradition in Raleigh.
