In maybe the biggest surprise of NC State’s National Signing Day, Defensive End Derrick Eason didn’t flip to Notre Dame, and stuck to his verbal commitment by signing his letter of intent to NC State today.

Eason committed to NC State back July 28th of last year, but when the early signing period rolled around in November, he was the only NC State verbal commitment that didn’t sign on the dotted line. At the time, his reasoning was that he wanted to sign with his Norview teammates.
As time progressed, Notre Dame decided to pounce, and offered Eason on January 17th, and he took an official visit there on the weekend of January 26th.
Up until yesterday, all indicators were that Eason was going to flip his commitment from NC State to Notre Dame, and sign with the Irish today, but at the end of the day, Eason stuck to his verbal commitment.
Eason also held offers from Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, UNC, Maryland, Wake Forest and others. He is a consensus 3-star prospect, and the #22 player in the state of Virginia according to ESPN.
