NC State Is 1 of 13 Schools to Reach a Final Four & College World Series Since 2014

The Magical Final Four Run

The Wolfpack’s 2024 men’s basketball season will be remembered as one of the most improbable postseason runs in college basketball history.

After entering the ACC Tournament needing a miracle just to reach the NCAA Tournament, NC State delivered exactly that.

#10 seed Wolfpack won five consecutive games to capture the ACC Tournament championship and earn an automatic bid to the Big Dance.

The magic didn’t stop there.

NC State knocked off Texas Tech, Oakland, Marquette, and Duke to reach its first Final Four since 1983.

Two Trips to Omaha

Since 2014, NC State has also advanced to the College World Series twice.

2021

The Wolfpack entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Ruston Regional and advanced to face No. 1 overall seed Arkansas in the Super Regional.

NC State stunned the Razorbacks on their home field to punch its ticket to Omaha.

Once there, the Wolfpack defeated Stanford and Vanderbilt before being forced to forfeit its final game against Vanderbilt because of COVID-19 protocols, ending one of the most memorable seasons in program history.

2024

Three years later, NC State returned to the College World Series.

The Wolfpack won the Raleigh Regional before traveling to Athens, where it defeated No. 7 national seed Georgia in a winner-take-all Game 3 to earn the program’s fourth trip to Omaha.

NC State dropped both of its games at the College World Series, bringing its season to a close.

Elite Company

Reaching either a Final Four or a College World Series is a significant accomplishment.

Doing both within the same decade places NC State in rare company.
