3-Star NC LB Jaylon Scott Commits to NC State

Yesterday NC State picked up a commitment from in-state linebacker Jaylon Scott (6’2”/220) out of Shelby High School (Shelby, NC). Scott is the 4th commitment in the 2019 football recruiting class.

Rivals ranks him as the #20 overall player in the state of North Carolina in 2019, and the #30 overall outside linebacker in the nation. Scott chose to run with the Wolfpack over offers from Clemson, UNC, Duke, UCF, West Virginia, Colorado and Maryland.

The high school football season kicked off this past weekend, and NC State’s 2019 football commits were in full swing. Here is a compilation of the highlight reels that are currently available for 9 of the members of #Pack19

4-star Defensive Tackle CJ Clark – 14 Tackles

4-Star Cornerback Shyheim Battle – 3 tackles & 2 pass breakups

4-Star Safety Khalid Martin – 10 tackles, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery

3-Star Running Back Jamious Griffin: 28 rushes for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. 32 receiving yards and 1 touchdown reception

3-Star Linebacker Jaylon Scott – 4 tackles & 1 sack

NC State 2019 Football Commits Week 1 Report

The high school football season kicked off this week, and NC State’s 2019 football recruiting commits were in action. Here’s a breakdown of how they fared.

4-Star DE Savion Jackson and the Clayton Comets fell to the Garner Trojans on the road 12-20 last night.

4-Star DT CJ Clark and the North Stanly Comets lost to the East Rowan Mustangs 21-27 on the road last night. From the video below, it looks like he had 4 tackles, with 2 of them going for a loss.

4-Star DT Joshua Harris and the Person Rockets lost to South Granville Vikings 7-33 on the road last night.

4-Star CB Shyheim Battle and the Rocky Mount Gryphons defeated the Middle Creek Mustangs 35-16 in their season opener at home. Battle had 4 tackles and 3 pass breakups.

4-Star S Khalid Martin and the East Forsyth Eagles defeated the Sanderson Spartans 42-24 in their season opener at home.

3-Star RB Zonovan Knight and the Southern Nash Firebirds crushed the Green Hope Falcons 42-6 in their season opener at home. Knight had 166 yards rushing, and I know he at least had one touchdown (29 yards).

3-star RB Jamious Griffin and the Rome Wolves beat the Marietta Blue Devils 51-41 in their season opener at home. Griffin rushed the ball 28 times for 162 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 32 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.

3-Star LB Drake Thomas and the Heritage Huskies trounced the Panther Creek Catamounts 50-11 in their season opener at home. Thomas did have a rushing touchdown on the offensive side of the ball.

3-Star OG Timothy McKay and the Wakefield Wolverines fell to the Leesville Rd. Pride 12-37 in their season opener at home.

3-Star OLB Jaylon Scott and the Shelby Golden Lions beat the Freedom Patriots 31-21 in their season opener at home. Scott had 4 tackles and 1 sack.

3-star OG Ikem Ekwonu and the Providence Day Chargers lost to Trinity Christian 20-41 in their season opener at home.

3-Star OT Triston Miller and the Charlotte Country Day Buccaneers lost to the Hammond Skyhawks 12-15 in their season opener on the road.

3-Star C Dylan McMahon and the Savannah Christian Raiders lost to the Athens Academy Spartans 7-20 on in their season opener on the road.

3-Star CB Jalen Frazier and the Hough Huskies waxed the Harding University Rams 56-6 in their season opener at home.

3-Star DE Terrell Dawkins and the Cox Mill Chargers destroyed the Mount Pleasant Tigers 40-0 in their season opener at home.

3-Star WR Chris Toudle and the Hoggard Vikings defeated the Holly Springs Golden Hawks 21-6 on the road here in the Triangle.

3-Star OL Zovon Lindsay and the Trinity Christian Crusaders defeated Providence Day 41-20 on the road in their season opener.

3-Star TE Kam Walker and the Pisgah Bears defeated the Murphy Bulldogs 15-8 in their season opener at home. Walker had one catch for 11 yards, but he did get a sack on defense in the 4th quarter that caused the quarterback to cough up the football, sealing the deal.

3-Star S Jakeen Harris and the Benedictine Cadets defeated the Burke County Bears 23-22 in their season opener on the road.

3-Star WR Keyon Lesane and the Butler Bulldogs beat the Scotland Fighting Scots 47-19. Lesane was the MVP of the game, rushing the ball 5 times for 68 yards, along with 2 receptions for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RIVALS: NC State’s 2019 Football Recruiting Class Ranks 16th

After the commitment of 3-star defensive end Terrell Dawkins tonight, NC State’s 2019 football recruiting class ranks 16th nationally according to Rivals.

Rivals also ranks the Wolfpack’s 2019 football recruiting class as the 3rd best haul in the ACC at this point.
