Ryan Finley Joins the 9,000 Yard Club at NC State

Published

on

Quarterback Ryan Finley continues to make his case as one of the best to play the position at NC State.

On Saturday, Finley crossed the 9,000 career passing yards threshold in the Wolfpack’s 47-28 victory over Florida State, becoming only the third player in school history to do so.

1) Philip Rivers – 13,484
2) Jamie Barnette – 9,461
3) Ryan Finley – 9,067

In the next two games, Finley will most likely pass Jamie Barnette, moving into 2nd place in school history. Barnette played 4 years at NC State, compared to Finley’s 3.

If Finley keeps up his current 2018 pace, he will finish his career with 10,623, and only one player is currently in the 10,000 yard club: Philip Rivers.

Again, Finley has only played 3 seasons at NC State, while the legendary Philip Rivers played 4. If Finley were to have played 4 seasons at NC State, he would more than likely have finished his career with more passing yards than Rivers, claiming to #1 spot.

You have 5 more games to watch one of the best quarterbacks in NC State history. Don’t take it for granted. Enjoy it.

Finley is definitely special and really…the prime reason we have a ranked team this year, MVP for sure. Is it possible to put together some numbers and comparisons for our great receiver Harmon?

Dave Doeren Meets with the Press After BC Loss: BULLETED

Published

on

NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after the Wolfpack’s 45-24 loss to Boston College this afternoon. You can watch the video here, or read the bulleted breakdown below.

Failing to stop the run…

  • Don’t know where to start.
    • Didn’t tackle well.
    • Didn’t set edges.
    • Didn’t play low enough.
    • Didn’t have good enough technique.
  • Pushed around at times.
  • Their running backs ran through contact.
  • Bottom line: they did a better job.

Devin Leary…

  • Felt like Bailey Hockman was a little bit shook.
    • Could be wrong on that, but that’s how I felt.
  • Devin Leary went in and looked calm and we wanted to give him a shot.
    • He seemed level. Wasn’t pressing and was just playing.
  • Valuable reps for him to get out there and see what he can do.

Injuries…

  • There’s 11 guys that were in our 2-deep when the season started that aren’t playing right now.
    • Makes it hard for chemistry on either side of the ball.
    • There’s a lot of guys not playing. Not an excuse.
  • The guys out there have to take advantage of the opportunity to play better.
  • Have to do everything schematically to give them opportunities to make plays.

Red zone efficiency…

  • It’s everything.
  • Ran a timing route for Thayer Thomas early in the game.
    • He was open and Bailey Hockman threw it over his head. Would have been a touchdown.
  • We got stopped 2x down there on an inside rush off the edge.
    • Last year, Reggie Gallaspy could’ve ran threw that probably. Freshman Running Backs not there yet.
  • Went with Matt McKay to see if he could get us some QB run game going. Didn’t get us in the end zone.
  • There’s a lot of things we’ve got to look at. It’s infinite right now.
