The NC State Men’s Soccer team (10-6-3) defeated Campbell (9-9-3) 4-1 at home in the 1st round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament last night, winning their 1st NCAA Tournament game since 1994.
Junior Gabriel Machado scored 2 of the Wolfpack’s 4 goals, surpassing Brad Sweeney for the team lead (Machado – 6 & Sweeney – 5). Sophomore David Norris scored the first goal of his career, and Sophomore Brad Sweeney scored his 5th of the season.
The Wolfpack had 15 shots (7 on goal), compared to Campbell’s 8 (2 on goal).
This will be the Wolfpack’s 8th appearance in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. NC State’s 2nd round matchup will be against #15 Maryland on the road this Sunday at 1pm. Three teams in NC State history have advanced to the quarterfinals (1990-92).
