Analysts predicting that 4-star Silas Demary Jr. will pick NC State

Published

on

This morning, 247’s national analyst, Eric Bossi, took a reader’s question about 4-star combo guard Silas Demary Jr and where NC State fits in his recruitment.

Bossi basically noted that Demary Jr. will be visiting this weekend (along with Dennis Parker) but didn’t really weigh in on where he stands with NC State. However, he did mention that “…they do both look to be very serious candidates to commit in the relatively near future with Demary likely to be the closest to making his choice.”

That take seems to fit with what Demary Jr. told us late last month. When asked when he wanted to make his decision, he said “A timeframe for a decision is trying to know where I wanna go before the high school season starts.” Note that the high school season is just two months away.

This also is in parallel with two 247 analysts predicting Demary Jr. ends up at NC State. One was PackPride writer, Cory Smith (he’s been right on 82% of his predictions), so it could be argued there is a bias there, however, the other was national analyst Travis Branham (who has been right on 94% of his predictions). Branham listed his confidence as a 7 out of 10 (which is classified as high confidence on 247).

Could Demary pop for NC State this weekend? It’s possible. I believe NC State is his final official visit scheduled, so that’s obviously not a bad sign. Either way, this is something worth monitoring over the weekend.

We’ll be here to update you with what we hear after the visit.

Hard to get too wound up about recruiting knowing that if we have a regime change, they will have the opportunity to reconsider.
Glad he’s looking at quality players, hope they come, but …. on the other hand, Keatts has never signed a 5 star player or even a top 50 player. He needs success to sign high end players, and he needs high end players for success.

North Carolina High School Athletes Will Now be Able to Profit off NIL

Published

on

NIL has shaken up the college sports world, and now it will be shaking up the high school sports world in North Carolina (NCHSAA), becoming one of 27 states to approve the ability for high school athletes to profit off their Name, Image and Likeness.

This will officially take place beginning July 1.

In order for a student athlete to begin this process, they will have to take a course on NIL, and their parents, coaches and athletic director will as well. Schools and coaches will not be able to represent the student in NIL Deals, and they will also not be allowed to use NIL as a way to draw athletes to their school.

There are restrictions on what student athletes can profit off of though.

The NCHSAA will prohibit student-athletes from entering into NIL deals with products around adult entertainment, alcohol, cannabis, controlled substances, firearms and ammunition, gambling, prescription drugs, as well as tobacco, vaping, and other Nicotine-related products. Athletes cannot affiliate themselves with a specific school, conference, school district, the NCHSAA, or the NFHS through a NIL deal.

ESPN ranks Howard as the #53 overall player nationally in the 2024 recruiting class, and the #3 player in the state of Georgia.

Howard is familiar with NC State, because NC State 2023 signee Trey Parker played with him down at Overtime Elite. In 2022-23, Howard averaged 10.1 points per game, shooting 58.6% from the field.

Check out these pictures of Howard on an unofficial visit to NC State with Parker.
