Here’s the Details of Tony Gibson’s Contract as Head Coach at Marshall

On Sunday, former NC State Defensive Coordinator Tony Gibson was named the new Head Coach at Marshall.

Here’s the details of Gibson’s contract.

Coach Tony Gibson’s contract has an annually salary of $1,000,000 and will end 1/31/30.

Performance-based incentives up to $500k per year.

$1.9mil salary pool for assistant coaches and support staff.

Buyouts:

$4mil before 1/31/26
$3mil before 1/31/27
$2mil before 1/31/28…

Gibson signed a 6-year deal that pays $1 million annually. He can earn $500,000 a year in bonuses.

Last offseason, NC State gave Gibson a new 3-year contract, paying $1.5 annually. At the time of the signing of the new deal, Gibson was the highest paid Defensive Coordinator in the ACC, and the 9th highest paid nationally.

Gibson obviously took a pay cut, but that was more than likely going to happen if he ever wanted to take a stab at being a Head Coach.
