3-Star Safety Markel Aguirre Verbally Commits to NC State!

3-star Safety Markel Aguirre (6’0″/185) verbally committed to NC State today while on an Official Visit in Raleigh.

ESPN ranks him as the No. 72 overall player in the 2026 class in the state of Georgia.

NC State offered Aguirre on January 28th. He also holds offers from UCF, Miami, ECU, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Liberty, and others.

Back in December, his Top 4 schools were UCF, Miami, Memphis, and Tennessee.

This past season, Aguirre recorded 57 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions for Luella High School in Locust Grove, Georgia. On offense, he added 189 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns, along with 385 receiving yards and 4 touchdown receptions.

Aguirre is the 7th 2026 prospect to commit to run with the Wolfpack. According to ON3, he is the highest rated player in the Wolfpack’s 2026 class at this point.
