STATS Podcast naming Paul McNeil as the #6 most likely national breakout candidate

The STATS Podcast guys are back with another great episode. This time, they are predicting breakout candidates and listing NC State’s Paul McNeil as the #6 most likely breakout star.

Here are the ‘stats’ they are looking at when finding these candidates:
Freshman or sophomores with 20 minutes or less per game, with over 100 offensive rating and over 20% usage.

Jim Root explains that McNeil really came on late and started becoming a major piece down the stretch for NC State, probably because he finally got an opportunity, which has been dissected by other writers here at PackInsider.

Will Warren gives 3 factors as to why they rank him #6.
– The Will Wade factor (“The coaching upgrade here is so severe.”)
– He closed the season strong, and most didn’t know because NC State missed the ACC Tournament
– +9.7 box plus/minus in conference games, 68% from 2, 36% from 3.
