On Dave Doeren’s radio show this week, the Wolfpack head coach didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts about his experience coaching last year’s team.

“Last year, we were winning some games, and kids on our team were pouting and complaining because they weren’t getting the ball. I hated coaching that team last year. There was so much selfish stuff on that sideline. We don’t have that on this team.”

If there’s been one point Doeren has hammered home over and over again this year, it’s how enjoyable this group is to coach. Up until now, he hasn’t made that point by directly comparing this year’s experience to last year’s.

Some might find his candidness off-putting, but I appreciate it. Culture has always been Doeren’s top priority. Human beings naturally battle selfishness, but the world of NIL and revenue sharing has only heightened the complexities of players’ egos.
