NC State’s Gavin Locklear is 1 of 4 finalists for the 2025 Tight End Coach of the Year Award!

This is Locklear’s first year serving as the Wolfpack’s Tight End Coach, making this honor all the more impressive.

If you look at the images below, it would have been criminal for Locklear not to be named a finalist.

Gavin Locklear, was a Quality Control Coach at NC State from 2021-24 (he was a Graduate Assistant for 2 years before that, and a Volunteer in 2018).

As a player, Locklear spent his first two seasons with the Wolfpack as a walk-on. He redshirted the 2013 season, and missed the entire 2014 season recovering from a broken leg. In 2015, Locklear received a scholarship prior to the season, and went on to play in all 12 games, catching 7 passes for 75 yards. Over three seasons, he played in 36 games, collecting 12 receptions for 107 yards. Locklear played high school ball right down the road at Apex High.
