Cloer originally enrolled early in January as part of the Wolfpack’s 2026 recruiting class but entered the Transfer Portal following Will Wade’s departure to LSU.

Earlier this week, the buzz pointed toward Virginia as his likely destination, but the momentum ultimately shifted in Alabama’s direction.

From a rankings standpoint, Cloer remains one of the more highly regarded players in the portal.

Both Rivals and 247Sports rate him as a 4-star transfer. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 68 overall player in the portal and the No. 9 small forward, while Rivals lists him at No. 120 overall and the No. 17 player at his position.

Coming out of high school, Cloer was ranked as the No. 24 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class by ESPN.

Cloer becomes the third NC State player from this year’s transfer portal group to find a new home, joining Terrence Arceneaux and Jerry Deng.
