2027 tight end Griffin Cockerham, who is already committed to NC State, confirmed he will be taking an official visit to Raleigh this weekend.

Cockerham originally committed to the Wolfpack on September 23 after receiving an offer on June 22, and he has remained locked in since.

His recruitment has continued to grow even after his commitment, with programs like Boston College, ECU, and UConn extending offers following his pledge. Prior to committing, he also held offers from Liberty and UNC Charlotte.

From a rankings standpoint, Cockerham is a consensus 3-star prospect. ESPN rates him as a 3-star recruit, ranking him as the No. 22 tight end nationally and the No. 23 overall player in North Carolina.

What makes Cockerham especially intriguing is his two-way production.

This past fall, he contributed on both sides of the ball for Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, NC), recording 3 receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown at tight end, while making a major impact defensively with 50 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and 14 tackles for loss.

NC State prioritizes keeping the talented players in the Triangle area from heading elsewhere for college.
