NC State (31-18, 13-13 ACC) flipped the script in a big way on Saturday, storming back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Stanford Cardinal baseball 12-7 on the road and even the series.

Early Trouble, Strong Response

Freshman Luke Hemric ran into early trouble, allowing 5 earned runs in just 2 innings. It marks the third straight start in which Hemric has surrendered four or more runs.

But the bullpen stabilized things, and then some.

Fellow freshman Sam Harris delivered a standout performance, putting up a starter-like line as the 2nd man out of the bullpen:

6.1 innings pitched
2 earned runs
4 strikeouts

Harris’ effort gave NC State the breathing room it needed to mount a comeback.

The Turning Point

After scratching across two runs in the 4th inning, the Wolfpack bats caught fire.

NC State exploded for 9 runs across the 5th and 6th innings, completely flipping the game and seizing control.

Offensive Standouts

Junior outfielder Andrew Wiggins made the most of his first start of the season in right field:

2-for-4
4 RBI
2 runs
Home run (6th of the season)

Junior 2nd Baseman Luke Nixon continued his hot stretch, extending his hit streak to 8 games with a 2-for-6 performance and 2 runs scored.

Junior 3rd Baseman Sherman Johnson pushed his hit streak to 10 games, filling up the stat sheet:

2-for-3
3 runs
1 RBI
2 walks

Freshman Left Fielder Rett Johnson extended his remarkable hit streak to 23 games with a base hit.

Meanwhile, sophomore Center Fielder Ty Head continued his power surge:

Home run (13th of the season – team lead)
3 walks
3 runs scored

Head now sits at 50 runs on the year.

With the series tied, NC State will look to secure the road series win on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
