NC State 2026 Men’s Basketball point guard signee Kingston Whitty won the NCISAA Division I Championship in high jump last week, setting a new state record of 7’2″.

NC State 2026 men’s basketball signee Kingston Whitty added a little extra hardware to his résumé last week.

Actually…a lot extra.

Whitty won the NCISAA Division I State Championship in the high jump while setting a new state record with a leap of 7’2”.

Yeah. Seven-foot-two.

More Than Just a Basketball Player

Whitty became the first prep commitment of the Justin Gainey era back on April 28th, giving NC State an important in-state building block for the future.

And clearly… the athleticism pops.

A 7’2” high jump at 6’2” feels borderline comic-book stuff for a point guard.

Recruiting Profile

From a recruiting standpoint, Whitty is viewed as one of the top guards in North Carolina.

Whitty was previously committed to West Virginia Mountaineers men’s basketball before reopening his recruitment on April 9.

Strong Junior Season

On the court, Whitty put together an impressive junior campaign for Christ School in Arden, North Carolina.

He averaged:

15.1 points
4.3 rebounds
3.2 assists
1.8 steals

while shooting:

51% from the field
37% from three

Foundation Piece

With Whitty’s commitment, NC State secured its first high school piece under Gainey:

In-state talent
Athletic upside
Scoring efficiency
Playmaking ability

And now apparently…serious bounce, too.
