NC State Football Recruiting Update – June 16th, 2018

Published

on

The world of NC State football recruiting has been a whirlwind the past two weeks, seeing 6 players to commit to run with the Wolfpack since June 1st, and it doesn’t show signs to be slowing down. Here are few notes:

3-star 2019 Offensive Guard Ikem Ekwonu (6’4″/290) will be announcing his college decision today at Noon.

247Sports ranks Ekwonu (Providence Day School/Charlotte, NC) as the #19 Offensive Guard in the 2019 class, and the #16 overall player in the state of North Carolina. Ekwonu took an unofficial visit to NC State this past Thursday, and was originally offered a scholarship by the Wolfpack on February 13th. Expect Ekwonu to commit to NC State today. 5 of the experts over at 247Sports have cast their crystal ball predictions, and all 5 picked NC State.

4-star 2019 Defensive Tackle Joshua Harris (6’4″/316) was at NC State Camp yesterday, marking the third time he’s been on campus in the past 1 week!

Rivals ranks Harris as the #141 overall player, the #7 defensive tackle, and #4 player in the state of North Carolina in the 2019 recruiting class.

Harris plays for Person High in Roxboro, North Carolina. NC State was the first school to offer Harris back on June 17th of last year.

Back on May 31, Harris revealed his Top-5 of NC State, Georgia, Tennessee, UNC and Ohio State.

All signs also point to Harris eventually committing to NC State, with 5 of 5 247Sports crystal ball predictions pointing that direction.

Signs are that he could announce by the end of the month.

4-star 2019 Athlete J.R. Walker is transferring from Northeastern High School (Elizabeth City, NC) to Clayton High School (Clayton, NC). In the past, Walker has made it clear that NC State is at the top of his list, and he continues to affirm that. Walker will be joining 4-star NC State commit Savion Jackson (DE) at Clayton.

247Sports ranks Walker as the #163 overall player in the 2019 class, the #13 Athlete, and the #7 player in the state of North Carolina.

At Northeastern last season, Walker rushed for over 1,019 yards (14.4 yards per carry) and intercepted 7 passes (Free Safety).

Once again, all signs point to Walker eventually committing to NC State, with 4 of 4 247Sports crystal ball predictions pointing towards the Wolfpack.

NC State is Still Aggressively Recruiting 3-Star DT Drayden Pavey Despite Not Making Top-3

Published

on

3-Star 2025 Defensive Tackle Drayden Pavey (6’3″/305) released his Top-3 schools this past week, and NC State didn’t make the cut. His Top-3 consists of Wisconsin, Indiana, and Purdue.

Despite not making his Top-3, NC State is still aggressively recruiting Pavey. Wolfpack Defensive Line Coach Charley Wiles was in to visit Pavey yesterday.

Pavey is still scheduled to take an Official Visit to NC State on June 18th.

ON3 ranks Pavey as the #4 player in the state of Kentucky (Robert A. Taft High/Burlington, KY).

NC State offered Pavey on April 24th.

When Pavey released his Top-8 back in February, NC State was obviously on the list. It consisted of Miami (OH), Toledo, Boston College, West Virginia, Pitt, Cincinnati, Indiana and Purdue. Wisconsin is also new to the scene, offering Pavey on April 21st.

As a Junior, Pavey had 46 tackles 7.5 sacks and 9 tackles for loss.

PI EXCLUSIVE: 3-Star S NC State Commit Tristan Teasdell Talks Commitment

Published

on

NC State picked up a verbal commitment from 2025 Safety Tristan Teasdell (6’1″/175) yesterday. I caught up with him to get a few thoughts on his commitment.

You received an offer from NC State at the end of March. How did the Wolfpack manage to make such an impression so quickly?

I feel like I fit in there scheme very well. They let their Safeties play free. They can come down hill and can also be very rangy! Another big part was the Coaching Staff. They talk to me almost every other day, so we have a great relationship.

Who is your primary recruiter? What is your relationship like with the coaches?

My primary Recruiter was Coach DeForest and Coach Aughtry-Lindsay. We have a great relationship.

Committing this early gives you a chance to become a recruiter. Are you looking forward to helping build NC State’s 2025 class?

I’m most definitely ready to built this 2025 class!

_____

Teasdell chose to run with the Wolfpack over offers from Miami, Duke, ECU, Coastal Carolina, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Oregon St., Pitt, TCU, Washington, Notre Dame, USC and others.

After the Wolfpack’s Spring Game, Teasdell told me that NC State was in his Top-5. He is scheduled to take an Official Visit on June 7-9.

Teasdell plays for Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, Virginia.

NC State offered Teasdell on March 25.

Teasdell is now NC State’s 4th verbal commitment in the 2025 recruiting class.

NC State has already made quite the impression. They only offered him on April 24th. Getting an Official Visit scheduled a week after offering a player is a good sign.
