4-Star 2024 Forward Kanon Catchings (6’9″/215) will be taking an Official Visit to NC State starting this evening, according to a source.
Catchings is the #31 overall player nationally in the 2024 recruiting class according to Rivals. ESPN ranks him as the #2 player in the state of Georgia, playing for Overtime Elite with 2024 NC State Signee Trey Parker.
On September 22, 2022, Catchings verbally committed to Purdue, but he decommitted from the Boilermakers a week ago. He took an Official Visit to BYU nearly immediately after.
Technically speaking, after Ernest Ross announced he was coming back, NC State already has 13 scholarship players heading into the 2024-25 season. With that being said, in the world of NIL, teams can be more creative, covering someone’s scholarship costs with NIL money.
This year at Overtime Elite, Catchings averaged 14.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, shooting 66.7% from the field, and 36.2% from three.
ESPN ranks Wilkins as the #54 overall player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class, the #7 Power Forward and the #2 player in the state of North Carolina.
This past season, Wilkins averaged 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds for Christ School (Arden, NC).
Back in August, Wilkins included NC State in his Top-7, which also included Georgetown, Georgia, Dayton, Villanova, South Carolina and Clemson.
Wilkins took an Official Visit to Georgetown earlier in the month, and then cancelled the rest of his Official Visits besides the one to NC State. It became clear that this was a 2-team race, and it looks like the Wolfpack won that race today.
NC State’s 2025 recruiting class now is made up of two players, with Wilkins joining 4-Star Shooting Guard RJ Greer.
Back in August, Wilkins included NC State in his Top-7, which also included Georgetown, Georgia, Dayton, Villanova, South Carolina and Clemson.
Wilkins recently took an Official Visit to Georgetown earlier in the month. He had other Official Visits scheduled to the rest of his Top-7, but it seems like they have been cancelled. At this point, it seems like a 2-team race between the Wolfpack and the Hoyas to land Wilkins.
