The 2026 ACC Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll was released today, and NC State was picked to finish 6th in the conference.

The Wolfpack were slotted 7th in last year’s preseason poll and went on to exceed expectations, finishing 4th in the ACC. That trend of outperforming projections could once again be in play heading into the 2026 season.

Here’s a look at the Official Preseason Coaches Poll

National Perspective

While ACC coaches slotted NC State 6th, national analysts view the Wolfpack a bit higher.

D1Baseball’s Preseason Top 25 ranked NC State:

  • 17th nationally
  • 5th in the ACC

That ranking suggests the Wolfpack are viewed as a legitimate NCAA Tournament team with the upside to push into the top tier of the conference.

A Familiar Spot for NC State

NC State has outperformed preseason expectations the past two years, and this season sets up similarly. With a strong core returning and one of the deepest pitching staffs in the league, the Wolfpack once again find themselves positioned as a dangerous team flying slightly under the radar.

If history is any indication, sixth in the preseason poll may end up being another number NC State surpasses.
