2027 EDGE Alex Johnson Visiting NC State This Weekend

2027 edge rusher Alex Johnson (6’3”, 230 pounds) confirmed he will be taking an official visit to NC State this weekend.

Johnson is an emerging prospect in the 2027 class, and this visit gives the Wolfpack an opportunity to make an early impression as his recruitment continues to gain traction.

From a rankings standpoint, 247Sports currently rates Johnson as a 3-star prospect, ranking him as the No. 57 EDGE nationally and the No. 13 overall player in the state of South Carolina. Rivals and ESPN have not yet assigned him a rating.

On the field, Johnson has been highly productive. This past season at Catawba Ridge High School (Fort Mill, SC), he recorded 60 tackles, 7 sacks, 23 quarterback hurries, and 2 passes defended.

Johnson has a busy slate of official visits ahead, including stops at Virginia Tech, UNC Charlotte, Michigan, Boston College, and Vanderbilt.

NC State extended an offer to Johnson on March 27th of this year and has quickly positioned itself among a competitive group. His offer list also includes SMU, Georgia, Louisville, Missouri, Duke, Georgia Tech, Illinois, and others.

Johnson looks like a guy that could fit well in the JACK Linebacker position in DJ Eliot’s scheme, that Cian Slone played this past year.
