NC State signee Kingston Whitty continues to add accolades to an already impressive high school career.

Recently, HighSchoolOT released its 2025-26 Men’s Basketball All-State teams, and Whitty earned a spot on the Second Team.

The future Wolfpack point guard is coming off a standout season at Christ School (Arden, N.C.) and remains one of the top prospects in North Carolina’s 2026 recruiting class.

Recruiting Rankings

Recruiting services have been high on Whitty throughout the recruiting process.

ESPN rates Whitty as a 4-star prospect, while Rivals and 247Sports both give him 3-star status.

247Sports ranks him as the No. 18 point guard nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, while Rivals ranks him as the No. 6 overall player in North Carolina.

Justin Gainey’s First High School Commitment

Whitty originally committed to West Virginia before reopening his recruitment on April 9.

Less than three weeks later, he announced his commitment to NC State, becoming Justin Gainey’s first high school commitment as the Wolfpack’s head coach.

Given Gainey’s emphasis on keeping North Carolina talent home, landing one of the state’s top prospects was an important early recruiting victory.

Strong Junior Season

Whitty put together an impressive season for one of North Carolina’s premier basketball programs.

2025-26 Statistics

  • 15.1 points per game
  • 4.3 rebounds per game
  • 3.2 assists per game
  • 1.8 steals per game
  • 51% shooting from the field
  • 37% shooting from three-point range

His combination of scoring ability, playmaking, and efficiency helped establish him as one of the top guards in the state.

Elite Athlete

Basketball isn’t the only sport where Whitty excels.

This spring, he won the NCISAA Division I State Championship in the high jump, clearing 7-foot-2 and setting a new state record.

The accomplishment speaks to the type of athlete NC State is bringing into the program.

At 6-foot-2, Whitty combines explosiveness, coordination, and body control that should translate well to the college game.
