2015 Recruit Update: Brandon Ingram

Published

on

Now, we know we’ve talked a lot about Ingram over the past two years and even caught up with him after he was on campus two seasons ago, but this is the guy State wants in 2015. They are really keyed in on him and have been for some time.

According to one of his former coaches, Ingram is very high on the Wolfpack and thinks it’s going to come down to State, Duke, UNC or Louisville. He is from Kinston, NC, so staying close to home might help sway him away from the Cardinals. UNC is going heavy after him, but it has always seemed as if he’d favor State over them when it came down to it (even though he is said to be mentored by Jerry Stackhouse). Duke, however, is a different story. A lot of analysts on the Duke side think that they hold the upper hand in this recruitment, but lately the Blue Devils have seemed a little more interested in a few other high ranked guys at the 3 (which is where Ingram sees himself playing.)

At 6’8, 180lbs he’s not your prototypical wing, but with Ralston Turner leaving, the Pack has some open playing time to give out at the 3.

While he is tall and long, he’s not a post guy by any means. This kid is a shooter and someone who, when his coordination catches up with his height, could be an absolute monster scorer. He’s got a nice handle, but that still needs work, along with his strength. That isn’t scaring NC State away though. They want him and want him bad.

We’ll be keeping close tabs on this as it certainly should get pretty interesting as it gets down to the wire.

North Carolina High School Athletes Will Now be Able to Profit off NIL

Published

on

NIL has shaken up the college sports world, and now it will be shaking up the high school sports world in North Carolina (NCHSAA), becoming one of 27 states to approve the ability for high school athletes to profit off their Name, Image and Likeness.

This will officially take place beginning July 1.

In order for a student athlete to begin this process, they will have to take a course on NIL, and their parents, coaches and athletic director will as well. Schools and coaches will not be able to represent the student in NIL Deals, and they will also not be allowed to use NIL as a way to draw athletes to their school.

There are restrictions on what student athletes can profit off of though.

The NCHSAA will prohibit student-athletes from entering into NIL deals with products around adult entertainment, alcohol, cannabis, controlled substances, firearms and ammunition, gambling, prescription drugs, as well as tobacco, vaping, and other Nicotine-related products. Athletes cannot affiliate themselves with a specific school, conference, school district, the NCHSAA, or the NFHS through a NIL deal.

NC State Men’s Offers 4-Star Jahki Howard

Published

on

Last Thursday, the Wolfpack offered 2024 Small Forward Jahki Howard (6’7″/180) out of Overtime Elite (Atlanta, GA).

ESPN ranks Howard as the #53 overall player nationally in the 2024 recruiting class, and the #3 player in the state of Georgia.

Howard is familiar with NC State, because NC State 2023 signee Trey Parker played with him down at Overtime Elite. In 2022-23, Howard averaged 10.1 points per game, shooting 58.6% from the field.

Check out these pictures of Howard on an unofficial visit to NC State with Parker.
