After earning 2nd Team All-ACC honors this past season, and leading NC State to the Sweet 16, Trevor Lacey has officially signed a 1-year contract with VL Pesaro in Italy.
Lacey will be given the task of helping turn the tide with VL Pesaro, who finished last season with an 8-22 record, which was good for second-to-last in Serie A standings. The team was founded in 1947, and have won the Serie A Championship 3 times, but the last time they did so was back in 1992.
Good for him. I hope he gets a shot at the league soon. People criticized his decision to go, and while he certainly won’t have the audience he would’ve had at State, it’s a lot nicer to get paid.
He would’ve had Final Four expectations here which means the season would almost definitely have been a disappointment, it usually is for any team with those kind of preseason expectations. Now he gets to sit in the Italian league incubator, work on his game and hopefully he will be in the league next year.
