NC State has produced some recognizable QB’s in the NFL ranks in the past few years. Not only was State the only school with three starting QB’s in the NFL a season ago, but NC State also helped produce two quarterbacks in Philip Rivers (65 Million) and Russell Wilson (61 Million) who are among the top 4 highest paid players in the NFL in terms of guaranteed money.

This rich history and recent success has been a motivator for current QB Jacoby Brissett.  This summer Jacoby was a “man on a mission” as proclaimed by Coach Doeren.  Jacoby put himself through two-a-days, which included morning individual work focusing on footwork and mechanics, followed by team workouts in the afternoons.  Not only does Brissett understand what it takes from a skill standpoint to be an elite quarterback, but he also understands the importance of his teammates.  Jacoby writes his offensive linemen notes before each game and it’s rumored that he will leave them baked goods as well.

Not only does Jacoby want to leave a legacy for his team by pushing them towards a meaningful season and challenging for the ACC, but he has a chance to cement his name in the record books as well.  Brissett already ranks 8th in school history for passing touchdowns (23) and fifth in completion percentage (.597).  Jacoby also beat teams with his legs, setting a single season rushing record for a quarterback last season with 529 yards.  These are impressive feats in their own right, but even more impressive considering he has only played one season.

NC State will go as far as Jacoby will take them and it looks like he understands what it takes from an individual standpoint and is a true leader on-and-off the field.
