NC State head coach Mark Gottfried was in Florida last night to see 2017 5-star Center Zach Brown for the second time this month, and today he will be heading up to Virginia to see 2017 5-star Point Guard Matt Coleman at Oak Hill Academy.
Coleman is Scout’s #23 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, and ESPN ranks him as the #3 Point Guard. He currently holds offers from Arizona, Cincinnati, UCONN, Florida, Indiana, Memphis, Miami, ODU, Seton Hall, Texas, UVA, VCU and Virginia Tech. Even though he doesn’t hold a Wolfpack offer yet, they have really turned up the heat recruiting Coleman this month.
Coleman plays AAU with Boo Williams, and used to be teammates with NC State 2016 Power Forward target Bam Adebayo. He has unofficially visited UNC twice, and has also stopped in at Virginia. UVA’s Coach Bennet was in Coleman’s house for an in-home visit earlier this month. Coleman also plans on taking visits to Indiana and Florida in the near future.
Andrews took an Official Visit to Missouri last week, and he has one scheduled with Arkansas in the middle of October, one with LSU the second week of November and one with Marquette beginning on January 31st of next year.
NC State offered Andrews back on June 15th.
ESPN ranks Andrews as the #15 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, the #4 Small Forward and the #1 player in the state of Arkansas.
ESPN ranks Wilkins as the #54 overall player nationally in the 2025 recruiting class, the #7 Power Forward and the #2 player in the state of North Carolina.
This past season, Wilkins averaged 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds for Christ School (Arden, NC).
Back in August, Wilkins included NC State in his Top-7, which also included Georgetown, Georgia, Dayton, Villanova, South Carolina and Clemson.
Wilkins took an Official Visit to Georgetown earlier in the month, and then cancelled the rest of his Official Visits besides the one to NC State. It became clear that this was a 2-team race, and it looks like the Wolfpack won that race today.
NC State’s 2025 recruiting class now is made up of two players, with Wilkins joining 4-Star Shooting Guard RJ Greer.
