NC State Men’s Basketball inked another solid piece to the puzzle yesterday as they gained the commitment of Ted Kapita. Hailing from the Congo, Kapita played most recently for the powerhouse Huntington Prep in West Virginia. Ranked as the 71st overall player in the 2015 class, Kapita gives Gottfried another athletic body to use down low. Gottfried described Kapita as a long versatile big man with a high motor, I cannot think of a more welcome addition to the Pack.
Standing at 6-10 and weighing around 240 pounds, he will give NC State some much needed young size that can grow into a bigger role during his time at NC State. In the video below many will see immense potential as Kapita has massive shoulders, excellent body control, and soft hands. It’s obvious that he has the type of frame that could carry more weight with ease, and could quickly benefit from a college weight training program.
In the highlights one thing that really stood out to me is how well Kapita runs the floor! If he can run the floor this well at the next level he could see some serious court time, especially playing with Dennis Smith Jr. Another positive for NC State is that they can now redshirt Lennard Freeman. With Kapita, NC State now has Yurtseven, Abu, Anya, and Hicks that can play down low.
Checkout the video of Kapita at the Nike Globe Challenge below. What do you think he will bring to the Pack next season?
