Keatts looking to the future as Cooper (2020 4-star PG) visits Raleigh again

Published

on

Geeze, even we’re having trouble keeping up. Kevin Keatts is a recruiting machine. I can’t remember a time when this many 4/5 star recruits were visiting NC State in such a short window of time. Most have been from 2018 or 2019, but NC State’s new headman isn’t short-sighted. He’s already looking to add talent to his 2020 class. That is where Sharife Cooper comes in.

Cooper is a 5’10 PG from Marietta, GA and is already turning heads. He’s got a serious handle, great vision and is a budding scorer. Keep in mind, this kid is a freshman so you’ll obviously see a ton of maturity over the past few years, but he already possesses the leadership, ball handling and vision that college coaches are looking for at this age.

You might be wondering why is this even news with this kid being so far out, but the point is to keep you following closely so you can see a pattern. State landing Lavar Batts and Braxton Beverly changed things. It gave them two quality PGs to go along with Markell Johnson. The two newcomers are freshmen and Johnson is a sophomore, so you’ll likely see NC State pump the breaks on offering another PG until 2020 when it’s time to restock. This is why Keatts is targeting Cooper. He must feel that this kid is going to be an elite name down the line and wants to get in early.

This is Cooper’s second visit to NC State over the past 2 months. He received his offer on July 7th and visited in early Sept.

He also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, FSU, GT, Mississippi, Rutgers, and Texas A&M.

Top-25 2024 SG Paul McNeil is Taking an Official Visit to NC State Next Weekend

Published

2024 4-Star Shooting Guard Paul McNeil (6’6″/185) will be taking an Official Visit to NC State next weekend.

ESPN ranks McNeil as the #17 overall player nationally in the 2024 recruiting class, and the #2 player in the state of North Carolina. I don’t understand how recruiting databases work, but at some point this year he will be a 5-star player according to ESPN as long as he stays in the Top-25.

McNeil plays for Richmond Senior in Rockingham, North Carolina.

This is huge for NC State to get a player of McNeil’s caliber to come in for an Official Visit this early in the process.
