Bradley Chubb is the G.O.A.T.

Published

on

Bradley Chubb entered today’s contest against Boston College needing 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss to tie Mario Williams career records at NC State. No one would have judged him if it took him two games or so to pull off the feat.

Today Chubb showed why he is arguably the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Time) at NC State at sacking the quarterback and bringing down the opponent in the backfield.

He tallied 4 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, not tying Super Mario, but passing him, to become the all-time leader at NC State in sacks and tackles for loss.

Here’s what the record book looks like now:

Sacks
1) Bradley Chubb – 26
2) Mario Williams – 25.5
3) Tyler Lawrence – 24
4) Art Norman – 23.5
5) Carl Reeves – 22.5

Tackles for Loss
1) Bradley Chubb – 56.5
2) Mario Williams – 55.5
3) Willie Young – 45.5
4) Carl Reeves – 45
5) Manny Lawson – 41
5) Dantonio Burnette – 41

Mario Williams #9 isn’t a retired numbered, but it is honored, and a player can be given the honor of wearing the number by their coach. Chubb was given the honor, and wears a Mario Williams patch on his jersey. No insult to Mario, but I think they can go ahead and take the patch off.

Don’t make the argument that Mario’s numbers are more impressive because he only played three years before leaving for the NFL. Chubb primarily played on special teams as a true freshman, and didn’t record a single sack or tackle for loss his first year. Chubb recorded every single sack and tackle for loss in three seasons, just like Williams.

Chubb still has 3 games left to play at NC State, and while he’s already climbed the mountain of the NC State record book, now we will have to wait and see how far he can climb up the ACC record books. He is currently tied with William Perry (Clemson, 81-84) and Mike Frederick (Virginia, 91-94) for 18th in ACC history for sacks, and ranks 9th in tackles for loss.

Here’s a look at Chubb’s historic day:

And it wouldn’t be a historic day with Chubb, without Chubb being Chubb:

NC State Wide Receiver Julian Gray is Entering the Transfer Portal

Published

on

NC State Wide Receiver Julian Gray announced today that he will be entering the Transfer Portal.

This past season, Gray had career highs in receptions (16) and receiving yards (170). He ranked 4th on the team in receptions, and 7th on the team in receiving yards.

Gray has served as NC State’s primary Kickoff Returner the past two seasons, averaging 24.9 yards per return. This past year, he averaged 26.0 yards per carry, which ranked 3rd in the ACC, and 11th nationally. It stands as the 5th best single-season average in school history.

Back in 2021, ON3 ranked Gray as a 4-star prospect, the #197 overall player nationally, and the #13 player in the state of North Carolina.

For the past two seasons, Gray has carried a lot of preseason hype that hasn’t ultimately materialized in the season. I’m not saying that’s Gray’s fault, or his role in the offensive scheme. It is what it is, but with the influx of talented Wide Receivers that the Wolfpack brought in through the Portal and the High School ranks, it seems like Gray if he was looking for an increased role in 2024, it probably wasn’t going to be in Raleigh.

Gray has 2 more years of eligibility remaining.

In all reality, Grimes is coming home. He was a 4-Star prospect out of Millbrook High School here in Raleigh. ON3, 247Sports and Rivals all ranked Grimes as a Top-250 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, with Rivals ranking him as the #36 overall player nationally, the #4 Wide Receiver, and the #2 player in the state of North Carolina.

Back in 2021, Grimes chose the Demon Deacons over NC State, Tennessee, Duke and Louisville. On December 8th, 2023, Grimes decided to come back home and run with the Pack.
