N&O: 2018 Wolfpack commit Manny Bates out for season after surgery

Published

Manny Bates, a 6’9, 2018 4-star NC State commit, has been sidelined all season long with a dislocated shoulder.

There was belief that Bates was close to recovery. Back in mid-November, we were told that Northwood was expecting him back very soon. Apparently rehab and rest didn’t do the trick.

Today (via the N&O) we learn that Bates had surgery yesterday, after a recent MRI showed no improvement. That means he will have to miss the rest of the season.

This type of surgery is common and likely will not affect Bates’ long term stock. He will enroll at NC State next season, in-line to get some pretty good frontcourt minutes alongside his rim-punishing teammate Ian Steere.

Get well, Manny!
