Recruiting Update – January 25, 2018

Recent Roster Updates:

OT Aaron Wiltz has taken a medical hardship and has decided to quit playing football.

RB Nyheim Hines and OT Will Richardson have decided to go to the NFL a year early.

QB Jalan McClendon has decided to transfer for his last year of eligibility.

DE Tyrone Riley has decided to move to the offensive line (Offensive Tackle).

Eric Collins, brother of Erin Collins, has decided to transfer to State as a WR. He will be a walk-on.

Visits:

CB Taiyon Palmer has been visited by our coaches at home (his mom was visited by our coaches on 1/16/18).  Palmer officially visited Raleigh on 1/19.  According to multiple sources, he was very impressed by his visit.

Palmer also has scheduled an official visit to Clemson for 1/26/18.

Upcoming Visits:

3* CB/S Roger McCreary will visit on 1/27.

I shared quite a bit about McCreary already in the recruiting thread.

Highlights of McCreary again: https://www.hudl.com/profile/6792891/Roger-Mccreary

3* CB/S Rachad Wildgoose will visit on 1/31.

A little more about Wildgoose:  5’11”, 190.  Attends Miami Northwestern HS in Miami, Florida.

He was committed to Georgia before re-opening his recruitment a few weeks ago.

He has visits scheduled to UCF on 1/26 and Wisconsin on 2/3 to end his official visit slate.

Rated the #63 Safety in the country (3*) by 24/7 sports and Scout, Rated the #52 Cornerback in the country (3*) by Rivals, and Rated the #59 Cornerback in the country (3*) by ESPN.

Highlights of Wildgoose:  https://www.hudl.com/profile/4038596/Rachad-Wildgoose-JR

Worth noting that both Wildgoose and McCreary are legit 4.5 if not quicker athletes who could project to multiple different places.

24/7 Sports Early Impact Players for 2018:

JUCO CB Kishawn Miller, DE Joe Babros, ATH De’Von Graves, RB Ricky Person, and K Chris Dunn.

Proposed Spaces Left in the Class:

4-5 if several current walk-ons are not given scholarships.

2018 Commits in New Rivals 250:

Rivals Final Top 250 Ranking was announced on Tuesday, 1/24.

Four current commits and signees made their Final Top 250 List.

They are RB Ricky Person at #85 overall, LB Payton Wilson at #166 overall (despite missing a huge chunk of his senior season with a knee injury), QB Devin Leary at #240 overall, and DT/DE Alim McNeill at #249 overall.

This marks the second time in the Dave Doeren era that we have signed 4 top 250 recruits. (Other time was 2015 with Nyheim Hines, Darian Roseboro, Emanuel McGirt, and Johnny Frasier).

2019 Offers:

We have been extending a ton of offers recently for 2019 kids and had quite a few of them already on campus for unofficial visits.

It appears that Coach Roof is helping us to identify and offer top tier talent in Georgia already (we have already extended at least 2 offers at Buford HS, a marquee HS in a huge talent pool in GA).

Rumors have it that we have already identified another player with a similar skill set to J-Sam who could be a hidden talent in the 2019 class. We offered him a scholarship on 1/16/18 (Zonovan Knight).
