Top TE prospect Luke Deal breaks down NC State Official Visit

Published

on

This past weekend 3-Star 2019 Tight End Luke Deal (6’5”/237) took an early Official Visit to NC State.

We caught up with him and he broke down his visit and his recruitment.

This weekend marked the third time NC State has had Deal (Greenwood, SC) on campus, but being an Official Visit, he saw more of the school and football program than ever before.

“We got to see the whole campus for the first time and met with the academic support staff. Spent a lot of time with some players and coaches and ate some really good food,” said Deal. “We got to watch the spring game and the walkthrough the day before. Overall I had a great time and got to see more than I’ve ever seen.”

NC State’s 2018 signees are relentless recruiters on Twitter, and they’ve been after Deal in a serious way.

“I talk to a few guys on Twitter. I got the chance to talk to a lot of 2018 guys along with some of the veteran players this weekend,” said Deal. “I have a really good relationship with those guys.”

Deal chose to take his first official visit to NC State, and also is planning to take official visits Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio St and Auburn. When I asked Deal if these were his Top 5 schools, he said “I’m not sure.”

He also holds offers feom Clemson and Georgia.

He will announce his college decision on May 25th.

Deal likes a lot of what he sees happening in Raleigh at NC State.

“I like the overall culture and mentality of Coach Doeren’s program. I think State is a program on the rise and it’s interesting to me,” said Deal. “They’d use me all over the place. In line, in the H position, and flexed out. I think I’d fit good in what they’re trying to do.”

Deal is one of NC State’s top priorities in 2019.
