West Virginia sources saying NC State vs. WVU game will be cancelled, NC State disagrees

WOWK news out of West Virginia is claiming they have sources saying that the NC State vs. WVU game will be canceled.

Here is a quote from their article:

13 News can exclusively report this Saturday’s game between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the North Carolina State Wolfpack will be canceled due to Hurricane Florence.

If this is true, this is the first anyone has reported it. However, they are also reporting a few things that contradict what we heard last night.

Here’s the quote…

Our sources say NC State is refusing to come to Morgantown to play the game even if there was a 50/50 split at Mylan Puskar Stadium or even if NC State took all the profits. Our sources say WVU is trying to preserve Will Greir’s Heisman status and WVU wants the opportunity for an additional win.(WOWK)

Well, if you’re following, The Dominion Post ran a piece last night that said it was West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen who was the one who was refusing to move the game.

WOWK is also stating that the game could be rescheduled to October 13th. That is the weekend WVU plays Iowa State, but their sources are saying that game would be moved to the following Thursday (October 18th). NC State is on a bye that week.

How accurate is this? Well, Fred Demarest (NC State’s Associate AD) took to Twitter to say that WOWK’s sources are wrong and that all parties are still deciding.

Meanwhile, we’ve heard from our sources that NC State is doing all they can to play the game this weekend. We’ve heard that keeping the game on Saturday is their initial goal and moving game time back could be in the cards. However, we’ve also heard that discussion of playing Sunday are taking place as a backup plan.

It’s a #SourceWar at the moment and any type of true confirmation is not likley to happen until tomorrow.

Either way, we’ll be tuned in and reporting at every step.
