Nine 2019 NC State Commits Earn Shrine Bowl Honors

The rosters for the 2018 Shrine Bowl were announced yesterday, and 9 of NC State’s 17 in-state 2019 football commitments were selected to play for the state of North Carolina.

NC State has 22 players committed in their 2019 recruiting class, and Rivals ranks it as the #20 class in the nation, and 247Sports ranks it 23rd.

Here’s a breakdown of the 2019 NC State commits that were selected to represent the state of North Carolina against South Carolina in the Shrine Bowl on December 15th:

4-Star Defensive End Savion Jackson has 58 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2018 for the Clayton Comets. ESPN ranks Jackson as the #34 overall player in the 2019 class, the #5 defensive end, and the #1 player in the state of North Carolina.

4-Star Defensive Tackle CJ Clark has 73 tackles and 5 sacks for North Stanly thus far in 2018. Rivals ranks Clark as the #161 overall player in the 2019 class, the #9 defensive tackle, and the #7 player in the state of North Carolina.

4-Star Defensive Tackle Joshua Harris stats are hard to come by, but Rivals ranks him as the #144 overall player in 2019, the #6 defensive tackle, and the #6 player in the state of North Carolina.

4-Star Cornerback Shyheim Battle has 21 tackles and 1 interception thus far for Rocky Mounty in 2018. Rivals ranks Battle as the #228 overall player in 2018, the #22 cornerback, and the #10 player in the state of North Carolina.

4-Star Safety Khalid Martin has 56 tackles, 3 pass breakups and 1 interception for East Forsyth in 2018. ESPN ranks Martin as the #24 Safety in the nation, and the #11 player in the state of North Carolina.

3-Star Running Back Zonovan Knight has 960 yards rushing and 14 rushing touchdowns for Southern Nash through 6 games. Rivals ranks Knight as the #28 running back in the nation, and the #20 player in the state of North Carolina.

3-Star Linebacker Drake Thomas has 75 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 interception through 8 games for Heritage in 2018. Rivals ranks Thomas as the #23 inside linebacker, and the #21 player in the state of North Carolina.

3-Star Linebacker Jaylon Scott has 53 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks for Shelby through 9 games in 2018. ESPN ranks Scott as the #27 player in the state of North Carolina.

3-Star Tight End Kam Walker and his Pisgah Bears are 8-1 in 2018.

3-Star 2025 CB Jayden Shipps has Locked In His Official Visit to NC State

I confirmed with 3-Star 2025 Cornerback Jayden Shipps (6’1″/180) that he will be taking an Official Visit to NC State on June 7-9.

Shipps also took an unofficial visit to Raleigh on March 22nd.

The Wolfpack offered a scholarship to Shipps on October 4th, and he also holds offers from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan St., Syracuse, Duke, Pitt, South Carolina, West Virginia, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Wake Forest and others

ON3 ranks Shipps as the #21 overall player in the state of Maryland in the 2025 recruiting class. Shipps had 24 tackles and 1 interception for Archbishop Spalding (Servern, MD) this past season.

3-Star LB Jaiden Braker Locks In Official Visit to NC State

3-Star 2025 Linebacker Jaiden Braker (6’4″/210) has locked in his Official Visit to NC State for June 19-21.

The Wolfpack offered Braker on April 2nd, and he also holds offers from Utah, South Carolina, SMU, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Cal, Cincinnati, Indiana, BYU, Liberty and others.

Last year, Braker had 48 tackles and 4 tackles for loss for South Gwinnett (Snellville, GA)

Top-30 Prospect WR Aaron Gregory Visited NC State Today

2026 4-Star Wide Receiver Aaron Gregory (6’2″/170) took an unofficial visit to NC State today.

He was visiting with his Douglas County teammate Jordan Carter.

Gregory is a Top-30 overall prospect nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, with Rivals ranking him 20th. ON3 and 247Sports both rank him as the #2 Wide Receiver in the class, and 247Sports ranks him as the #2 player in the state of Georgia.

He holds offers from NC State, Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, UNC, Auburn, FSU, Duke, Tennessee, Ohio St., LSU, Miami, USC, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Mississippi St., Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, Colorado, Arkansas, Boston College, Penn St., Ole Miss, West Virginia, SMU, Oregon, Oklahoma, Indiana, Pitt, Cal, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame and others.

This past season, Gregory had 41 receptions for 795 yards and 8 touchdowns for Douglas County.

Top-10 2026 Prospect DE Jordan Carter Visited NC State Today

4-Star 2026 Defensive End Jordan Carter (6’3″/235) took an unofficial visit to NC State today.

Carter holds offers from NC State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, West Virginia, SMU, UCF, Georgia Tech, USC, Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and others.

Rivals ranks him as the #10 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class, and the #2 Defensive End. ON3 ranks him as the #1 player in the state of Georgia.

This past season at Douglas County, Carter had 84 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks.
