Senior Point Guard Markell Johnson missed NC State’s season opener last night against Georgia Tech to kickoff basketball on the ACC Network. The Pack could have really used their best player, ultimately falling to the Yellow Jackets 82-81 in Overtime.

Johnson sprained his ankle in practice roughly 4 days ago, coming down on someone’s foot.

“Markell Johnson came down on someone’s foot in practice maybe four days ago and has a pretty good sprain. We want to be careful with him, so I don’t know what his status will be for Sunday. We have a day or two off this week and we will continue to get him treatment so we can try to figure out what is going on moving forward.” (GoPack)

What Keatts failed to mention was the fact that Johnson was actually medically cleared to play last night, and ultimately, Markell made a personal decision not to play.

With that information in mind, Wolfpack fans shouldn’t panic.

Markell’s injury isn’t dire.
