NC State’s Dusan Mahorcic Suffers Knee Injury vs. Coppin State

NC State Center Dusan Mahorcic suffered a gruesome looking knee injury tonight in the Wolfpack’s 94-72 victory over Coppin State in Reynolds Coliseum.

From what I’ve heard, Mahorcic suffered an injury to his kneecap, but the severity of his injury is unknown at this time. A kneecap injury can visually be a disturbing sight, and the NC State squad, especially Terquavion Smith, who had a good look at it, were emotionally moved in concern.

We will have to wait to see how long Mahorcic is out, but the need for DJ Burns to be able to play more minutes just became much more important. Also, Ernest Ross, who has always had a high ceiling, is going to need to grow up fast if Mahorcic is out for an extended period of time.

We just can’t seem to avoid major, season ending injuries recently.
Leary and Morris in football this season. Bates last season. Daniels the season before.
No matter what happens this season, we’ll always think, “What would it have been like with Dusan all season?”

Unbelievable! Concussions, ankles, shoulders, knees … this really sucks. This is heartbreaking. Like Dof87 said, Dusan was really coming into his own, not just his play but his attitude and leadership. What a shame for him. Big loss for us.

what a shame for Dusan, who seemed to finally have found his home.

This is a blow to the team, obviously, and will significantly change how we play ball. Time for Ross and Gantt to get things going.

Is there any chance he could get a medical redshirt? Also, is Mady Traore still on track to play later this month? Cory Smith saying he won’t show up.

He was supposed to enroll for Spring and start practice on Dec 8. I read a comment from a member at ON3 that he did not qualify academically. Most people thought it was just a bureaucratic/paperwork issue. However, Cory is the only one I know of that has categorically said he won’t enroll.
