NC State offered Temple Cornerback Transfer Jamel Johnson (5’11″/195) today, and he confirmed with me that he will be taking an Official Visit to Raleigh this Weekend. Johnson just wrapped up his Junior season, and has 1 year of eligibility remaining.

Johnson started off his career at Charleston Southern, where he played his first two seasons. As a Freshman, he played in 8 games, starting in 3. He had 18 tackles and 4 interceptions (team high). In 2023, Johnson had 47 tackles and 5 pass breakups, starting in every game.

After transferring to Temple last offseason, Johnson started every game for the Owls, and started every game. He had 47 tackles, and led the team with 2 interceptions and 9 pass breakups. His PFF grade of 77.3 was the 2nd highest grade on Temple’s defense. Opposing Quarterbacks only completed 37% of the passes thrown his way this year.

Since entering the Portal, Johnson has picked up offers from Houston, Jax State, New Mexico St., Southern Miss, UCONN, UTEP, Arkansas St., UMASS, UNLV and NC State.

Johnson isn’t the only Temple transfer visiting NC State this weekend. EDGE Tra Thomas is also visiting.
