According to Adam Schefter, former NC State All-American Nyheim Hines is looking for a new NFL team after missing the past two seasons due to injury.

Hines suffered a horrific jet ski accident in 2023, which caused him to miss the entire 2023 football season. In 2024, he signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, but due to a lengthy recovery, he was never activated.

Through five seasons on the field in the NFL, Hines has 1,202 rushing yards with 10 rushing touchdowns, and 1,778 receiving yards with eight touchdown receptions. He also has 1,015 punt return yards and 817 kickoff return yards. Hines has two career kickoff returns for touchdowns, as well as two punt returns taken to the house.

Here’s a look at where Hines’ career NFL numbers rank compared to other former NC State football players:

Rushing Yards — 7th
Rushing Touchdowns — 9th
Receiving Yards — 10th
Touchdown Receptions — 11th
Punt Return Yards — 2nd
Kickoff Return Yards — 6th
Punt Returns for Touchdowns — 3rd
Kickoff Returns for Touchdowns — 1st

In 2017, Hines earned First-Team All-ACC honors as a running back for the Wolfpack and Second-Team All-American honors as an all-purpose player by the AFCA. His career average of 5.42 yards per carry ranks fourth in NC State history. Hines’ 4,638 career all-purpose yards rank third, and his 2,171 career kickoff return yards rank second.
