NC State just put up one of the most dominating performances I’ve ever seen in all my years watching this program.

Let’s look at the advanced stats to see how it graded out. We’ll be using BartTorvik.com, one of the most respected analtyics and projection sties in CBB.

As you can see, this was NC State’s best graded offensive game of the season, finishing with an adjusted offensive efficiency of 146.1. Defensively, this was their 4th-best outing of the season.

This performance boosts NC State from #31 to #25, and jumps our neighbors down the street, UNC, who is now at #26.

Now let’s look at how the players stacked up today vs. FSU. Our favorite way to do that is to look at Torvik’s BPM 2.0 (Box +/- 2.0).

Torvik’s BPM (Box Plus/Minus) is an advanced college basketball player metric, specifically Box Plus/Minus Version 2.0 (BPM 2.0), developed by Daniel Myers and implemented by Bart Torvik on barttorvik.com.

It estimates a player’s overall contribution to their team’s scoring margin—measured in points above or below league average per 100 team possessions (a tempo-free rate stat that normalizes for pace and minutes played).

For the 3rd time this season, Terrance Arceneaux has a +20 BPM. That’s crazy. No one aside from Darrion Williams has touched that number this season (and his was once earlier this season). Arceneaux has done it 3 times and he really hasn’t been in the rotation much this season.

This is why the staff was so excited about him. He’s so valuable on both ends of the floor when he’s locked in.

NC State has basically just taken a guy who wasn’t in the rotation and now has a guy who is arguably the most valuable player on the court when he’s in there. His importance to this team can not be overstated.

The other big numbers were from McNeil and Copeland, which are more expected. Darrion Williams was a team low 3.7, which surprised me.

Overally though, what a game by the Wolfpack that passed both the eye test and the stat test.
