NC State ranks 5th nationally in total ‘Kill-Shots’ (10-0 runs), but gives up a lot as well

No lead is safe if you’re playing NC State this season.

That’s according to Evan Miyakawa, who runs EvanMiya.com, one of the top CBB analytics sites out there.

Miya’s analytics stack tracks a fun stat called “Kill Shots,” which are simply any ’10-0 run’ that a team makes. These types of runs are usually back breakers for your opponent if you can pull them off, but you have to be able to stop them as well.

NC State ranks 5th nationally in ‘Kill Shots’ per game at 1.29.

Only Michigan, Gonzaga, St. Louis, and Virginia rank ahead of them.

The Pack’s problem is that they are giving up a lot of ’10-0′ runs to their opponents. NC State ranks 175th in ‘Kills Shots Conceded’ per game (the lower the better).

Miyakawa ranks NC State as a ‘Streaky’ team in this graphic, which actually doesn’t chart total ’10-0 runs’ but instead adjusts the per-game for opponent strength.
