With the Syracuse game just a day away, we wanted to flashback 2024 when NC State met The Orange in the ACC Tournament’s second round.

The Pack was a 10-seed in this tournament, and honestly, coming into this Syracuse game, no one believed the Wolfpack had a chance to win 5 games in 5 days. But after beating Louisville in the first round, they faced off against The Orange.

NC State Wolfpack beat Syracuse 83-65. This was March 13, 2024, the second round of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament in DC.

The game was close at halftime, with NC State leading 35-32. However, the Wolfpack pulled away decisively in the second half, outscoring Syracuse 48-33 to move onto the quarterfinals.

Jayden Taylor led with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Mohamed Diarra was dominant on the boards with 14 rebounds (including 7 offensive) and added 6 assists.

NC State: 42% FG (28-66), 35% 3PT (7-20), 83% FT (20-24), 40 rebounds, 10 turnovers. They forced 19 TOs.

DJ Burns finished with 15 points, and O’Connell and DJ Horne had 16.

This was the first game where everything came together. O’Connell continued his hot streak, Horne was coming off injury, and Diarra was just settling in as the starting 4 man after riding the pine most of the season (thanks KK!)
