3-Star EDGE Damaad Lewis Flips Commitment from FSU to NC State

NC State added another piece to its 2026 recruiting class today, landing a commitment from three-star EDGE Damaad Lewis out of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Lewis, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 245 pounds, originally committed to Florida State late last fall and signed with the Seminoles in December. Earlier this month, however, he requested – and was granted – a release from his National Letter of Intent, reopening his recruitment.

The Wolfpack quickly emerged as a top option, and Lewis ultimately chose NC State, giving the program another in-state defender with high upside.

Senior Season Production

As a senior in 2025, Lewis posted strong numbers for Myers Park:

• 42 tackles
• 7 tackles for loss
• 4 sacks
• 17 quarterback hurries
• His combination of size, strength, and pass-rushing ability made him one of the more intriguing defensive prospects in North Carolina’s 2026 class.

Recruiting Profile

Lewis is rated as a consensus three-star prospect, with Rivals ranking him as the No. 19 player in the state of North Carolina for the 2026 cycle.

With his commitment, NC State now sits at 27 prep commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, continuing to build depth along the defensive front.
