NC State guard Jayme Kontuniemi has officially entered the Transfer Portal, which doesn’t come as a surprise.

Kontuniemi did not see the court this season, redshirting his first year of college basketball.

The international prospect out of Finland committed to run with the Wolfpack this past offseason.

Head coach Will Wade made an effort to tap into the international pipeline. This past offseason, NC State landed a commitment from Paul Mbiya before he ultimately ended up at Kansas. The staff also extended an offer to 2026 international prospect Aaron Ekwere out of Finland, who played at Drive Academy, the same program Kontuniemi came from.

Kontuniemi will have four years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.

With his departure, NC State has now had four players enter the Transfer Portal:

Cole Cloer
Jayme Kontuniemi
Matt Able
Colt Langdon

One name to continue monitoring is Paul McNeil Jr..

As of now, McNeil Jr. has not officially entered the portal. While that could still change, you can be sure Justin Gainey is doing everything he can to keep him in Raleigh.

Sometimes, in portal season, no news is good news.
