NC State forward Jerry Deng is transferring to Memphis to play for Penny Hardaway.

Deng arrived in Raleigh this past offseason after transferring from Florida State, but his time on the court this season was limited. He appeared in just eight games before receiving a medical redshirt, giving him two years of eligibility remaining.

His top performance in a Wolfpack uniform came against Texas Southern on December 17, when he scored 14 points and knocked down four three-pointers.

Before arriving at NC State, Deng averaged 7.0 points per game as a sophomore at Florida State, shooting 37% from three-point range. He began his collegiate career at Hampton, where he averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 39.1% from beyond the arc.

Deng becomes the second NC State player from this year’s transfer portal group to find a new home, joining Terrence Arceneaux, who committed to George Washington.
