According to a source, NC State is set to host 6’10 South Dakota State big man, Damon Wilkinson on a visit tomorrow.

Wilkinson is currently in Nebraska on a visit, and as long as there is no commitment there, he’ll head to Raleigh.

He officially entered the portal after two seasons at South Dakota State, making a name for himself thanks to his physicality, on-court efficiency, and rebounding prowess. He’s got an interesting profile. He’s huge at 6’10, 245 lbs, and he averaged 14ppg, 6.4 rebounds, .8 blocks, and shot almost 60% from the floor. He also shot 72% from the line.

We’ve been saying that NC State could go out and get another big, but we were envisioning them targeting a big, low-skilled, enforcer type. Instead, Wilkinson gives you that size, but also is pretty darn good on the offensive end.

This past season, he had a 117 ORTG (offensive rating) and was +2.8 in Box+/-. He isn’t an elite defender, coming up about average in the metrics during Top 100 quality games, but he does give you size and strength up front.

He actually would pair pretty well with Kyle Evans, the other 6’10 center that NC State added a couple of weeks ago. Evans is definitely more polished both offensively and defensively, but he’s 35 lbs lighter and could struggle against bigger, stronger frontcourts.

We’ll keep you updated on whether he ends up making the trip and, if so, how it goes.
