NC State (28-16) completed the season sweep over in-state rival East Carolina Pirates baseball (28-17-1) on Tuesday night in Raleigh, cruising to a 12-2 run-rule victory in eight innings.

The Wolfpack also took the first meeting on April 14 in Greenville, winning 10-3.

After redshirt junior Julien Peissel allowed two runs in the third inning to tie the game, NC State’s bullpen took over. Freshmen Truitt Manuel, Michael Ragusa, and Aiden Kitchings combined to throw six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out 10 batters.

At the plate, the Wolfpack delivered a full-on hit parade, racking up 15 hits.

Junior second baseman Luke Nixon led the charge, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base. Nixon is now hitting .354 on the season with a 1.026 OPS.

NC State got production throughout the lineup, with junior first baseman Chris McHugh, junior third baseman Sherman Johnson, senior right fielder, and freshman shortstop Christian Serrano each recording two hits.

McHugh launched his eighth home run of the season, setting a new career high.

Serrano impressed in his first career start, doubling and scoring two runs.

As a team, NC State showed strong plate discipline, drawing eight walks while striking out just seven times.

The sweep marks the first time since 2022 that the Wolfpack has taken both games from ECU in a season.

Next up, NC State returns to ACC play with a key three-game series against the Miami Hurricanes baseball (32-12). The Wolfpack enters the weekend at 10-11 in conference play, while Miami sits at 12-9.
