With the ACC tournament less than two weeks away, NC State has suddenly climbed back into serious NCAA Tournament consideration as the race for a spot in the 64-team field intensifies.

The Wolfpack stands at 30-17 overall and 12-12 in league play. After picking up three wins in four games last week (and a series win over)ver Miami), their at-large bid prospects look much brighter.

Early in the year, NC State burst onto the scene with a powerful lineup and reliable pitching, holding a spot in the national rankings for much of the first half of the season. But back-to-back series defeats at Florida State and Georgia Tech dropped them out of the Top 25 and left them battling to stay alive for postseason play.

A midweek victory against East Carolina and a solid series win over Miami have helped them regain ground. Baseball America noted that taking the series at Stanford this weekend, and steering clear of a sweep against fifth-ranked North Carolina, should give the Pack enough on their resume to safely land on the right side of the bubble.

And here is how they think the field shakes out…

In its latest projected Field, they have NC State as one of the “Last Four In,” slotting the Wolfpack as the No. 3 seed in the Gainesville Regional. Hosted by No. 14 Florida (SEC), the group also features No. 19 Nebraska (Big Ten) and North Florida (the automatic qualifier from the ASUN).
