According to a source, NC State is currently hosting Dayton transfer forward De’Shayne Montgomery (6’4”, 200 pounds) on an official visit. He arrived in Raleigh today.

Montgomery is coming off a strong junior season at Dayton, where he earned Third Team All-Atlantic 10 honors. He averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game while shooting an efficient 49% from the field. He also knocked down 52 three-pointers, shooting 33.5% from beyond the arc.

His junior season marked a significant jump in production after a more limited role as a sophomore, when he averaged 6.5 points in 15.5 minutes per game across 17 appearances.

Montgomery began his college career at Mount St. Mary’s, where he made an immediate impact. As a freshman, he earned MAAC Rookie of the Year honors, averaging 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

At the transfer level, 247Sports rates Montgomery as a 4-star prospect, ranking him as the No. 129 overall player in the portal and the No. 24 shooting guard.

With proven production, defensive activity, and positional versatility, Montgomery adds another intriguing option to NC State’s growing list of backcourt targets.
