What Will Justin Gainey and NC State’s Basketball Coaching Staff Make in 2026-27?

With Justin Gainey preparing for his first season as NC State’s head men’s basketball coach, what will the Wolfpack coaching staff be paid during the 2026-27 season?

According to contract information obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, Gainey will earn a base salary of $2.35 million during his first season in Raleigh.

Justin Gainey’s Contract

Gainey signed a five-year contract to become NC State’s head coach.

His base salary will increase by $100,000 each year of the agreement.

Here’s how the contract breaks down:

2026-27: $2.35 million
2027-28: $2.45 million
2028-29: $2.55 million
2029-30: $2.65 million
2030-31: $2.75 million

In addition to his base salary, Gainey has the opportunity to earn up to $1.25 million annually in performance bonuses, depending on the team’s success both on and off the court.
