Back in 2008 ESPN put out there All-2012 Fantasy Roster, and they have put out these All-Future Fantasy teams almost every year since then.  As a religious fantasy baseball player that has been in a keeper league for a decade, these projected teams put together have been what I’ve built my team around. Until this year, I can confidently say that there has never been a former NC State baseball player on one of these teams.  In this years All-2019 team, there are two: Carlos Rodon and Trea Turner.

Carlos Rodon was listed as one of the starting pitchers on the All-2019 team along with 6 other pitchers.  Here is what they had to say about Rodon.

Speaking of filthy breaking pitches, Cole’s slider, coupled with his mid-90s fastball and developing curveball and changeup, puts him right up there in the discussion of perennial Cy Young candidates. He’s already looking like one now, and there might be more strikeouts in his future; think perennial 200-plus totals with sub-3.00 ERAs. Rodon could be tossed into that same discussion, as his slider is even better than Cole’s. Should Rodon’s command come around as expected, he’ll be in the Cy Young conversation as well. (ESPN)

Carlos Correa and Dansby Swanson were listed as the two starting shortstops, and Trea Turner was one of 4 other shortstops listed as the “best of the rest.”

If ESPN’s projections are on point, then in a couple of years two former NC State baseball players should be two of the biggest faces in Major League Baseball.

After injuries sapped Lorenzo Brown of his best form during the regular season, the Maccabi playmaker snapped back to health just in time and, as one of the stars of the postseason, has been recognized by the voters his second consecutive All-EuroLeague Team selection. Brown was the MVP of the Play-In Showdown after he erupted for 29 points on 7-for-8 three-point shooting – both Maccabi postseason records – plus 5 assists against Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz to send Maccabi to the playoffs. He then led the Israeli champs with 17.2 points and 5.8 assists for a PIR of 19.2 in the five-game series against Panathinaikos. Brown ranked third in scoring for the playoffs, with 17.2 points per game, and was third for the full season in assists with 6.1. (Link)

This is the 2nd time that Brown has earned All-EuroLeague status, earning 1st Team honors in 2022-23.
