Earlier tonight 3-Star 2017 Cornerback Chris Ingram, the #9 player in the state of North Carolina, committed to NC State.  I talked with him to give him a chance to share how the whole thing went down.

Yesterday Ingram was at the Alpha Wolf Showcase at NC State with a lot of other top Wolfpack prospects.

“When I left there yesterday everything just felt right. Everything went good,” said Ingram. “My workout went good. Talking with the coaches went good. The coaches were asking me if I was ready to commit. I had been thinking about it for the past couple of weeks. On the way home my mom said she was thinking I should commit. Then I said “I think it’s about time.”

Ingram left campus without committing, but couldn’t shake the feeling all night long.

“I was thinking about committing all night long after I left. I wanted to commit yesterday, but I wanted to take more time to think about it,” said Ingram. “But earlier this afternoon I called up my recruiting coach and told him I was ready to commit and then I called the head coach and told him the same thing.”

This is one of the biggest decisions of this young mans life and he is excited to have made it, but he’s especially excited to be able to focus now.

“The recruitment process is a whole different lifestyle. It’s something I couldn’t have explained until I experienced it,” said Ingram. “I wasn’t really expecting it until I went through it. During school I would always get mail. When coaches were out visiting, I would talk to three or four coaches a day. Every single day I would get called out of class just to talk to a coach. I enjoyed it a whole lot, but at some point you want it to die down so you can just focus.  Now that I’ve made my decision I can just relax. I can now just focus on playing ball and my school work.”

PI EXCLUSIVE: 4-Star DB Asaad Brown Breaks Down Commitment to NC State

Published

on

4-Star 2024 Cornerback Asaad Brown verbally committed to NC State back on March 22nd. I caught up with Brown, and got his take on why he decided to run with the Wolfpack.

They’ve been extremely consistent in letting me know I’m a priority. We’ve built a relationship for a few years. I feel extremely comfortable with their plans for me.

The position I’m coming in for allows me to be versatile and allows me to make plays in a variety ways.

I just need to continuously work on my craft and stay ready so I don’t have to get ready. My main goal is to come in and be able to contribute as a true freshman.

My connection is great [with the NC State coaches]. I feel like we are family. Everyone brings good energy and vibes when I’m around. North Carolina is my home state, so it just all makes sense. It just feels right.

PI EXCLUSIVE: 4-Star QB Cedrick Bailey Talks Commitment to NC State

Published

on

On March 13th, NC State picked up a verbal commitment from 4-Star 2024 Quarterback Cedrick Bailey. I caught up with Bailey, and got his take on why he committed to run with the Wolfpack.

NC State recruited me well and I loved that. What made me choose NC State was the coaches, the offensive system. Taking that visit sealed the deal. NC State is everything I was looking for. It was great up there.

The main thing that intrigues me in this NC State offense is that they air the ball out and they scheme so well. When I was watching their practice, I saw so many great things in their offense, and I can see myself being comfortable in their offense.

The main thing I need to work on and focus on this season is being more consistent. One bad thing I do, is that when we are winning, I tend to relax and kinda take my foot off the gas and that messes my mechanics up. My main goal for my Senior season is to win one last state championship with my guys.

The guys I’m recruiting to come with me to NC State are Jayden Scott, Jonathan Paylor, William Sanders, Jordan Shipp, Channing Goodwin, Alex Taylor, Terrell Anderson, Keenan Jackson, and Jameer Grimsley

The coaches and players built a great connection with me since they recruited me, and when I took the visit there, the players loved me. They made me feel welcomed and the coaches are willing to take care of me like I’m their own child, so I’m happy that there’s someone to take care of me as I leave home.

Bailey chose NC State over offers from Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Florida State, Texas A&M and others.

He plays for Chaminade Madonna in Hollywood, Florida. Bailey’s stats last season were video game level. He threw for 3,355 yards, completing 70.2%. Bailey threw 45 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions.

Published

3-Star 2024 Running Back Jayden Scott released his Top-7 schools yesterday, and NC State made the cut along with Wake Forest, Duke, Rutgers, Northwestern, South Carolina and Louisville.

He took an unofficial visit to NC State earlier this month, and was offered by the Wolfpack in January.

Scott only played in 5 games last season for Stockbridge (Stockbridge, Georgia), due to a broken fibula, but he had 542 yards rushing (8.5 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns in 5 games.

Last Spring Scott finished 3rd in the state of Georgia in the 100m, running a 10.88.
